Success Story Feature—Joe C.
After being a general/remodeling contractor for twenty-three years, Balance of Nature customer Joe Chrastka wanted a change. Long story short, he ended up becoming a yacht salesman. Later, he became a boat captain for trips to Catalina Island in California, as well as an insurance broker. Most recently, he and his family moved to Southwest Idaho to start their next chapter in life!
A Big Family Keeps Joe Busy
Joe and his wife, Sue, are parents to 7 children with different disabilities.
Joe’s first son was born with a lot of medical problems, but he and his wife wanted a big family. They decided adoption was the better option for them. It was new to them, but they were willing to do what needed to be done.
They soon became foster parents of children with medical needs who would be available for adoption. Their family began to grow as they eventually adopted 6 children and fostered many others.
Joe and Sue have now been foster parents for over 30 years; during that time, 310 children have been part of their home. It has become their purpose to give their children the best life possible. Energy and stamina are critical, and Balance of Nature has helped them have the strength and energy they need to play with and care for their kids.
“My life is very busy. . . . My day stops at about 9:30 at night . . . We have a lot going on, always,” Joe says. “So as I got into my sixties, I started noticing I just didn’t quite have the same energy and drive.”
As a result, Joe began looking into supplements. He tried a few different ones and didn’t have a lot of success. He shares that he tried many products that didn’t live up to their claims. He says Balance of Nature is a product that does exactly what it says it will. He is able to get more fruits and vegetables into his diet every day which gives him more energy and focus.
More Energy and Nutrition with Balance of Nature
Balance of Nature has become part of Joe’s “recipe for life.” He says it has helped him stay active, be a good parent, interact with his kids, and show them how to live life. “To me, the best way [for them] to understand is by example,” Joe shares. He explains it is better for his kids to see him eating and living healthy rather than hear about it.
Joe said the problem for many foster children wasn’t always with their family lifestyle or how they were raised; sometimes the problem was their eating habits. They didn’t have a lot of food choices readily available to them or they ate fast food. So Joe and Sue tried to help them make better choices.
Joe heard the Balance of Nature commercials, and the product made sense to him. He knew people don’t really get all the fruits and vegetables they should. Besides that, Joe is so busy with work, he sometimes skips meals. So he started taking it.
Joe brings his Balance of Nature with him in a to-go cup and takes the capsules throughout the day. The times he forgets to bring some with him, he really notices it. “I started noticing, if I missed taking it, that day I just felt tired. I just didn’t feel the same,” he explains. “ . . . To me, that was a good indication that it must be doing something.” Now, he’s sure to pack his Balance of Nature Fruits & Veggies with him. Joe has been taking them for about three years now.
“I . . . believe . . . that they've done a good job putting the right vegetables and the right fruits together when they [make] it,” he says. “And they do it in a way where they’re not taking the goodness out of it, and they’re making it to where all the benefits of the fruit and vegetables . . . are in the capsules. I like that, and I like that it’s easy to do. You don’t have to think about it.”
Joe adds, “I take Balance of Nature, and it tends to kind of make me more focused. The other thing is that it has given me back a lot of my ambition. Before [Balance of Nature], I used to tell people that when I’m ambitious, I do things and when I’m not, I sit on the sofa—well, I don’t want to do that. It does tend to keep me more ambitious and willing to do the things I want to get done. . . . In life, you work for the things you want, and to accomplish that, you know, it doesn’t happen by miracle, it happens by you actually getting up and doing it.”
Maintaining ambition and drive was one of Joe’s concerns along with staying active and alert. When he first started working as a boat captain, he knew he needed to be alert, focused, and aware because of how much traffic was in the water. Balance of Nature helped address all of this for him.
Joe recognizes the many benefits that come from enhanced nutrition. He believes that eating correctly and getting vitamins and minerals from fruits, vegetables, and the foods we eat is the best way for the body to absorb them. This is one reason he was so attracted to Balance of Nature: it provides whole fruits and vegetables in a capsule.
Fiber & Spice
Talking about Balance of Nature Fiber & Spice, Joe says, “It's amazing that it tastes good.” As you get older, he says, fiber becomes part of your life. “If you are concerned about your digestive system, one way or the other, to add fiber to your diet is a very beneficial thing. And, if you're going to add fiber, you might as well add one that tastes good and so the Balance of Nature Fiber [& Spice] is good-tasting.”
Joe admits that when he got into his 60s, his system wasn’t as regular as it used to be and that part of his initial attraction to Balance of Nature was the Fiber & Spice.
Balance of Nature has also been part of their family’s most recent big change—moving to and building a farm in Idaho. He says Balance of Nature has helped with his energy and stamina. Joe plans to introduce more animals to their land including ten cows, a few hens and chickens, and pigs too!
